It's that time of year again where you get to take stock in all of the wonderful and innovative things that your California Environmental Health agency/department/division has done and in 2,500 words or less (not including appendices), describe the program in which sustained improvements and excellence have been demonstrated over time. These attributes shall be documented by specific examples of outcomes and achievements. The inclusion of quantitative data, which documents results, is encouraged.
El Dorada County is the 2012 Excellence in Environmental Health Award Winner

Applications received:
- Contra Costa County - Outbreak Investigation Team Nomination for CCDEH Environmental Excellance Award
- El Dorado County - El Dorado County - Solid Waste Management Plan
- Sacramento County - Improving the Health and Safety of Public Pools Through the Use of Workshops | App 1 - Handout Package for Pool Spa Workshop | App 2 - Pool and Spa Workshop Presentation
- Santa Clara County - Santa Clara County - Hazardous Materials Compliance Program and CUPA
Criteria to be considered for the Excellence in Environmental Health Award include:
- Innovative and effective use of program methods and problem solving to enhance environmental health in the community.
- Improvements in productivity.
- Cost savings.
- Sustained improvements and excellence, as documented by specific outcomes and achievements, over the preceding three to five years.
- Successful involvement of people (managers, staff, industry, the public) in reaching the goals of the program
