TIMELINE - DRAFT CALIFORNIA FOOD CODE
The following is the timeline for the preparation of the Draft California Food Code as a proposed legislative document. It includes provisions for extensive internal and external review and comment.
December 12, 2001:
Release the Initial Draft: California Food Code for review and written comment by each of the four FTACs at the SCFTAC meeting. The FTAC chairs to review the document and forward to their members for review. Written comment due by February 6, 2002.
December 18, 2001:
Conference call the FTAC chairs who did not make it to the December 12, 2001 meeting to review the document.
December 19, 2001:
The Food Policy Committee to discuss and approve a timeline for review of the proposed California Food Code.
January 16, 2002:
Review structure and organization of the Initial Draft: California Food Code with the CCDEH Food Policy Committee. Initial Draft: California Food Code available for review and comment by CCDEH membership.
February 6, 2002:
Written comments due from the FTACs at the February 6, 2001 SCFTAC meeting scheduled in Pasadena, CA where they will be discussed. Written comments can also be sent by e-mail to Lfrias@dhs.co.la.ca.us.
February 13, 2002:
Review structure and organization of the Initial Draft: California Food Code document and CRC subcommittees B and C draft language on Mobile Food Facilities and Temporary Food Facilities with corresponding Draft California Food Code sections at the full CRC meeting.
February 20, 2002:
Second Draft: California Food Code that includes the FTAC comments will be discussed at the CCDEH Food Policy Committee. Second Draft: California Food Code available for review and comment by CCDEH membership.
March 20, 2002:
Written comments due from CCDEH membership. Submit by e-mail to Lfrias@dhs.co.la.ca.us.
June 2002:
Begin 60 day CCDEH, DHS/FDB, CRC, industry and public review and comment period on the Revised Second Draft: California Food Code. Document will be distributed via the CCDEH website and will also be made available on CD. Written comments submitted by e-mail to Lfrias@dhs.co.la.ca.us.
August 7, 2002:
Written comment period ends on Revised Second Draft: California Food Code.
September 17, 2001:
Review of the written comments and the Revised Third Draft: California Food Code at the CCDEH annual conference to get direction and a resolution from the Conference as to how to proceed with the document.
October 2002:
Publish “Response to Comments Document” and complete Final Draft: California Food Code. The Final Draft: California Food Code will be distributed to local environmental health jurisdictions, DHS/FDB, CRC, industry and the public via the CCDEH website and will also be made available on CD.
November 2002 to January 2003:
Work with CCDEH, DHS/FDB and CRC to prepare Final Draft: California Food Code for legislation.
