Kern County is seeking TWO Chief Environmental Health Specialists
Under general direction, to plan, direct and coordinate the activities of a major environmental health division consisting of more than one environmental health program; to assist in planning for and management of the Environmental Health Services Department; and to do related work as required.
This classification reports directly to the Director of the Environmental Health Services Department and performs both administrative and professional functions. The classification is distinguished from the Environmental Health Specialist IV, which has responsibility for supervising the work of subordinate personnel and/or managing the activities of a major program within one of the divisions of the department. Incumbents administer State and County environmental health policies for either a generalized or specialty division of the Environmental Health Services Department. In the absence of the Director, incumbents in this classification may assume acting director status.
