Just a reminder that the 12th California Unified Program Annual Training Conference  is quickly approaching February 1-4, 2010 at the Burlingame Hyatt in San Mateo County.  There are 100 classes and 45 of them will offer CECH (Continuing Education Contact Hours). You can find the final program brochure and all conference information posted to the  website at http://www.calcupa.net We are planning for 1000 people to come to this event.  Thanks to the great TEAM effort of the CUPA Conference committee for making it happen.

Special Events Popular Golf Tournament on Sunday January 31, 2010 10:30-5pm, two miles away from the hotel. 

This event has been sponsored by CALCLEAN so the price was reduced to $60 per player.  Right now we have 32 golfers for Sunday and everyone will be meeting at the front outside entrance to carpool.  We have additional vans for transportation. The networking event of the year, this years' competition will have two person teams vying for the coveted cup in a team eight ball tournament. The competition will be held Tuesday evening and will include a shuttle from the Hyatt, dinner and the tournament. Sponsored by Alltech Services the cost for the event is $35 per person. Added features at this Years CUPA conference
Hosted Computer Lab for the new California Electronic Reporting System (CERS) Program every hour for regulators and Industry. Space is limited on a first come first serve basis every hour starting Monday at 3:00pm-5pm in Harbor and Tues - Thursday in Boardroom III.

A sophisticated tracking system that will provide personalized training
certificates for all attendees.  As an Accrediting Agency the CUPA Forum will offer Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH) for Registered Environmental Health Specialists.  An Aboveground Storage Tank track for this important new program.  A Basic Inspector Series (BIS) will provide a solid, documented foundation for new CUPA staff.  New industry specific classes in the continuing Inspector Series.  All CECH information will be in your padfolios at the conference and handed out at the registration desk when you check in. 

PRE-Registration is available on Sunday at the Hyatt from 5-7pm in the lobby.

Volunteer information:
We love Volunteers and we want to thank everyone who has volunteered in the past helping out.  There are several ways to help and if you received a scholarship we are asking for an hour of your VOLUNTEER time which will be a fun way to give back to everyone attending the training.  Please choose one of the items below to help out.

1. Join us on Sunday from 9-5pm to set-up registration in the Pine Room at the Hyatt.  We need help organizing and getting ready for the Pre-Registration.  Please show up at the Pine meeting room if you plan on helping.  THANK YOU!!!! This is a big help.

2. At the registration desk we will have a poster VOLUNTEER sign up sheet for VOLUNTEERS to sign up to help scan the name badges at the door for each class.  We need two scanners per class.  The name badges have been pre-printed with a barcode so we can keep track of each person and what class they attend for the CECH Hours.  So plan on signing up for a class you already plan on attending since you are going to be there anyway :-)

3.  We need volunteers to pick up EVALUTION Forms and return them to the registration desk. This is a really simple task.  If you are planning on attending one of the classes just plan on being available to hand out the evaluations forms BEFORE the class begins to everyone's seat and then plan on collecting them after the class and returning them to the registration desk right after class is over.  We will have a table at the back of each room for everyone to drop the Eval's off at the end of each class.

4. We need VOLUNTEERS to help with the CERS Drop in LABS
(California Electronic Reporting System)
Starting Monday at 3pm-5pm, Tuesday 8-5pm, Wednesday 8-5pm and Thursday 8-12pm.  There will be laptops available Monday in the Harbor room and Tu-Thursday in Boardroom III for people to be able to Drop in all week.

 

The lab will allow participants to use CERS as both a business and as a regulator. Participants will be able to access a script and learn about the functions of CERS and what will be expected of both business and regulators.

In order to have the lab open all week we will volunteers to staff it. All scholarship recipients are required to volunteer time at the conference so we will be looking for volunteers that have an aptitude for computers to assist in the lab. The minimum volunteer time for this project will be two hours with a minimum of two volunteers staffing the lab at all times. Volunteers will assist participants in maneuvering through the script, logging on etc.

The lab will start on Monday and be open each day, so we would like to train the volunteers prior to the conference. To do the training we have posted a CERS training webinar for volunteers’ to access. We have the CERS webinar posted on the CERS Help section at https://cers.calepa.ca.gov/CERS/DemoPages/Default.aspx

It's a 90 minute webcast that walks the viewer through the main features of CERS. This training will enable the volunteers to assist lab participants. If you are interested in volunteering for this cutting edge program please contact Sheryl Baldwin so we know how many trainers we will have for the four days and if you need a specific day we can schedule it in. The Volunteer sign in sheet will also be posted at the registration desk.
